Durango SRT Hellcat Now Legal in All 50 States
Durango SRT Hellcat - Life in Classic
Nationwide Green Light for a Supercharged Icon
Performance fans across America just got an early gift. Dodge confirmed that the 2026 Durango SRT Hellcat now carries certification for sale in all 50 states. The ruling removes earlier limits that kept the SUV out of California and other states that follow California Air Resources Board rules. For buyers in those regions, the wait is finally over.
Previously, the Durango SRT Hellcat faced restrictions due to its 13 mpg combined rating and related emissions. That barrier has fallen, and the approval applies to the 2026 model year. As a result, shoppers in California, New York, Massachusetts, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Washington, and additional CARB states can place factory orders for the first time.

How Dodge Cleared the CARB Hurdle
Dodge credits a mix of policy adjustments and a focused certification push for the breakthrough. The brand sought full compliance rather than a limited approval. That approach took time, yet it now opens the entire U.S. market. In short, the SUV that once sat on the sidelines in key states can finally compete on equal footing.
The company did not spell out every step. However, the result speaks for itself: the Durango SRT Hellcat now meets the standards required to sell in both federal and CARB jurisdictions. Dealers can submit orders, and buyers no longer need to search out-of-state inventory. This clarity should also streamline deliveries and reduce workarounds that once complicated the purchase process.
With the regulatory question settled, Dodge can focus on production and customer choice. That shift matters, because demand often spikes when a once-limited model becomes widely available.
Power, Speed, and Everyday Muscle
The Durango SRT Hellcat is still a rarity: a three-row, supercharged, gas-powered family hauler with muscle-car numbers. Under the hood sits a 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8. It produces 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque, and it sends that force through an eight-speed automatic. The result is a claimed 0–60 mph run in the mid-three-second range.
Beyond straight-line speed, the Durango can also work. With a maximum towing capacity of up to 8,700 pounds, it handles boats, trailers, and weekend gear. That mix of pace and practicality separates it from many high-performance SUVs. Meanwhile, all-wheel drive and performance-tuned hardware help the big Dodge put power down, whether on a highway merge or a back road.
Buyers who want a single vehicle to do a bit of everything will likely take note. It hauls the family on weekdays and the toys on weekends. Yet it also delivers the soundtrack and surge that define modern American muscle.
Personalization Through the Jailbreak Program
To mark the coast-to-coast approval, Dodge is spotlighting its Jailbreak personalization program for the Hellcat and other V8 Durango trims. The catalog spans exterior colors, stripe packages, wheel designs, brake caliper finishes, and interior accents. Moreover, it mixes and matches items that were once bundled or restricted. That flexibility turns a factory order into a custom build.
Dodge says the expanded menu yields more than 10 million potential combinations. In practice, that means owners can shape the look to match their taste, from subtle to outrageous. You can go dark and stealthy, or bright and bold. You can pair unique wheels with striking calipers, then cap it with an interior that echoes the exterior theme.
Because the program operates through the factory, it preserves warranty coverage and avoids aftermarket guesswork. For many, that is the most appealing part: deep customization with OEM fit, finish, and support.
