Mercedes S-Class Refresh Adds Brilliance, Comfort, and Tech
Mercedes Benz S class Refresh 2026 - Life in Classic
A refined flagship nears its next chapter
Mercedes-Benz is not ready to unveil an all-new S-Class, yet the brand’s flagship sedan takes a major step forward for 2027. The company says more than half of the car’s content is newly developed, updated, or refined. That adds up to roughly 2,700 parts, which signals a significant mid-cycle reset.
The focus is clear. The new S-Class aims to sharpen its visual presence while elevating comfort and intelligence. It seeks to deliver more of the serenity, capability, and wow factor this nameplate is known for. It will reach dealerships in the second half of the year. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
Bolder design and lighting innovations
Design changes begin with a bolder face. The grille grows by 20 percent, giving the sedan a stronger stance. For the first time on a Mercedes, the hood ornament can be illuminated, and it now features a glowing three-pointed star. It is a small change, yet it makes a memorable statement.
Lighting technology advances, too. New Digital Light twin-star headlamps use micro-LEDs and a new control chip to boost illumination by 40 percent. The Ultra Range high beams can project up to 1,968 feet and also swivel into upcoming curves. As a result, nighttime confidence improves. At the rear, redesigned taillights incorporate three chrome-framed stars, bringing the motif full circle.
Bespoke colors and personalization
The Manufaktur palette expands with two striking options. Black Sparkling uses real glass flakes for a deep, shimmering effect. Meanwhile, Verde Silver Magno introduces a matte take on the blue-green hue. Both finishes underline the car’s tailored character.
Beyond that, the new Manufaktur Made to Measure program turns personalization into an art form. Buyers can choose from more than 150 exterior colors and over 400 interior colorways. They can also customize illuminated door sills, interior stitching, and even wheel colors. Therefore, each S-Class can reflect an individual vision, whether subtle, expressive, or anything in between.
A digital cabin with smarter assistance
The cabin design evolves with a new dashboard, door panels, and center console. Screens now span nearly the full width of the dash. Drivers get a 12.3-inch display, while the standard MBUX Superscreen pairs a 14.4-inch central display with a 12.3-inch passenger display under one seamless panel.
Under the surface, the Mercedes-Benz Operating System powers the fourth-generation MBUX infotainment suite. The system runs on a redesigned architecture for speed and responsiveness. Additionally, AI technologies from Microsoft and Google enhance the MBUX Virtual Assistant, which learns preferences over time. It aims to anticipate needs, simplify tasks, and reduce distraction. As a result, everyday interactions feel more natural and more personal.
